Official standards and scope

RFC 9649 defines WebP, the HTML Standard defines browser canvas export, and the W3C specification defines PNG. This page accepts any image the browser can decode rather than validating a WebP container, draws the decoded image onto a canvas, and exports PNG. Alpha can be retained when supplied by the browser decoder, but animation is reduced to the displayed frame and source ICC, EXIF, XMP, codec structure, and other non-pixel data are not deliberately preserved. Browser codec support governs success, and the PNG can be larger than the WebP source.

Notes

  • Browser support for WebP, PNG can affect preview and export behavior.
  • Large or batch files use more browser memory, so process them in smaller groups when needed.
  • Preview the result before using it in production, publishing, or submission workflows.

FAQ

Will transparency be preserved?

Yes. PNG output keeps transparency when the source WebP contains it.

Is WebP to PNG free to use?

Yes. You can use it directly in the browser without creating an account.

Does WebP to PNG support batch processing?

Image tools with multi-file input can process multiple files. The exact behavior depends on the file picker shown on the page.

Are files or content uploaded?

WebP to PNG runs in your browser, so your input or files are not uploaded to DataHub servers.

Can I use WebP to PNG on mobile?

Yes, but desktop browsers are better for large files, batch conversion, or long text input.

Why can conversion or validation fail?

Common causes include corrupted files, unsupported browser codecs, very large files, or low memory.

Can I use the result commercially?

The tool only processes your own input. Commercial use depends on the rights of the original file or data.
