Official standards and scope

WCAG 2.2 defines relative luminance and the 4.5:1, 3:1, and 7:1 text-contrast thresholds reported here. This calculator uses the former 0.03928 sRGB breakpoint; WCAG 2.2 uses 0.04045 and notes that the correction has no practical effect in guideline calculations. A two-color result is not a complete accessibility audit: text size and weight, exceptions, interaction states, images, gradients, transparency, and non-text contrast still require contextual review.
